Brazilian Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) got another Electric Motorcycle Cup victory by taking the lead after 2/3 of the race before seeing the red flag in a race-2 delayed by rain in Assen
After a very sweet weekend for Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP), after winning the pole and victory in the first of two rounds in Assen, the Swiss started the second mentality to sign the Dutch double. However, the electric grid experienced a turbulent Sunday, with the highest revenue taken by Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), at the expense of Aegerter himself and Mattia Casadei (Pons Racing 40).
In a race that was delayed and reduced to 6 laps due to track conditions, Mattia Casadei started to lead Aegerter, Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE) and behind them Eric Granado and the Spaniards Miquel Pons (LCR E -Team) and Héctor Garzó (Tech3 E -Team),.
Casadei gave control of the power race to Granado, who rode faster than the others. However, all of those intense fights were paralyzed after seeing the red flag wave due to a crash on turn 5, which included Pons and Marc Alcoba (Openbank Aspar Team).
When 2/3 of the race was over, Race Direction deemed the classification correct after the final step at the finish line left Ferrari in the podium gates followed by Niccolò Canepa (WithU GRT RNF MotoE) and Alex Escrig (Tech3 E -Team) finishing sixth with María Herrera (Openbank Aspar Team) eighth.
Two -time champion Jordi Torres decided to retire after seeing the delicate state of the track and that a situation like that could arise, to limit the risks of experiencing a fall after an injury that continues to drag.
This situation caused a reduction in the distribution of points by half because the whole race was not disputed. This way, and after another podium finish, Aegerter remains the Electric Cup leader with 158 points, 31.5 more than Granado and 45.5 more than Ferrari. Casadei (98) and Pons (79) were the top five. Next appointment is Aug. 21 at the Red Bull Ring.
