Justin Thomas shot a bogey-free 66 on Saturday to take the lead with a one-stroke lead over world number 1, Scottie Scheffler, after the third round of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
Thomas finished Saturday at 6 under par (66) and -17 (199) overall with the final day remaining this Sunday.
Thomas birdied four of his first nine holesincluding two on consecutive holes 6 and 7, before adding two more on holes 14 and 16.
The 31-year-old will secure his first victory since the PGA Championship in May 2022 if he can stop world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (69 on Saturday), second at 16 under par.
Tom Kim posted the best round of the day (10-under 62) and finished third in the standingswhere he continued to climb positions after a hesitant first round.
The South Korean finished Thursday tied for 18th after shooting a 2-over 74, but bounced back nicely, with a 7-under 65 on Friday to move up to 10th place before putting in another strong performance on Saturday.
Kim was one shot behind Scheffler, who lost the lead after a 3-under performance.
Keegan Bradley (68) remains alone in fourth place at 13-under 203, while Akshay Bhatia (71) dropped from second place to a tie for fifth with Sahith Theegala (66) on 12 under par First-round leader Cameron Young (72) is tied for 12th with Nick Dunlap (70) at 5 under.
