UK Sport has announced it will invest £330 million ($418 million) in Olympic and Paralympic sports for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.although athletics and canoeing will see their funding cut.
Great Britain finished seventh in the athletics medal table at the Paris Games with 10 medals, with Keely Hodgkinson winning her only gold in the 800 metres.
Olympic athletics budget reduced from £22.2m to £20.5m for Los Angeles.
The Funding for canoeing has been cut by more than £500,000 compared to the Paris figure, up to 12.5 million pounds by 2028.
«The decision we made about all the sports was that we analyzed their potential», the executive director of UK Sport declared to the BBC, Sally Munday, in an interview published on Monday.
«UK Athletics will receive more than £30m for the Olympic and Paralympic programmes and we believe this will put them in an unbeatable position to support their athletes heading to Los Angeles.
