Glentoran has issued a brief statement regarding the Ireland Cup appeal ruling

Date:

Glentoran said they would “take time” to consider their options after losing an appeal against the Irish Cup disqualification.

The Football Association of Ireland confirmed on Friday that its Appeal Board had dismissed Glenn’s complaint about their deportation in the Joe Crowe case.

Glentoran sued after he was kicked out of the cup after Crowe was found ineligible to play in the New York City quarter-finals on March 5.

A statement from the Oval Club website read: “Glentoran has taken note of the decision of the IFA Appeal Committee.

“In accordance with IFA articles and UEFA regulations, further litigation remains open and it will take time for the club to determine the appropriate next step in Glentoran’s interest.”

On February 14, Crow received a three-game ban while playing at the Glentoran Reserve against Linfield Swift.

The reserve team played three matches before the 23-year-old won 1-0 in eight finals against Nouri, but one was an average cup match, and Crowe is not allowed to play.

According to the IFA Disciplinary Code, a player who is ineligible to participate in a particular match due to competition rules cannot use that match to qualify for disqualification.

Newry filed a complaint on March 7, then accepted the league club’s protest at the first hearing on March 10.
