Kazakhstan reached the quarterfinals of the United Cup with a comfortable victory over Greece this Monday, when Elena Rybakina defeated Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-3 after Alexander Shevchenko surprised the unknown Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-4, 7-6).
Former Wimbledon champion Rybakina, who is using the 18-nation tournament to prepare for the Australian Open next month, saw off Sakkari in a tight first set before taking a 5-0 lead in the next.
In its part, Shevchenko made a splash by defeating Tsitsipas, world number 11, 6-4, 7-6(0)and put Kazakhstan on course for victory in Group C in Perth.

Boulter put Great Britain 1-0 up with a 6-2 6-3 win over Nadia Podoroska, but Argentina bounced back as Etcheverry overcame a stomach problem to beat Billy Harris 3-6 6-3 6-2.
Iga Swiatek, world number two, will face Norway along with Poland in Group Bwhile defending champion Germany will face China in Group E.
