Date:

Novak Djokovic opened its 2025 season this Tuesday with a clear victory in first round of the ATP 250 in Brisbaneheld in hard courts in Australia.

Seeded first in the tournament, the Serbian lost in his debut by a double 6-3 against Australian Rinky Hijikataworld number 73 and had no options against a much superior Djokovic. The Serbian has been solid and has more than responded to the challenge posed by the oceanic player.

Djokovic broke his rival’s serve early on and, although he failed to generate any break options in the first set, he responded perfectly to the intensity against a concentrated Hijikata who tried, without success, to find his chance . Unbroken, the Serbian responded to take the first set of the match 6-3.

Hijikata was able to hold his serve at the start of the second set, with Djokovic not relinquishing any chances to him, knowing his break was coming. In fact, it was presented to him in the seventh game of the set and it was the beginning of the second break in which he secured the final 6-3.

In this way, useless but without ups and downs, Djokovic stepped firmly to open their season. Just on Monday he won the doubles with Nick Kyrgios, with this Wednesday the round of 16 draw awaits him against the first seeds, Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus. He will appear on Thursday Gael Monfils in the individual round of 16.
