Laia Sanz and her co-driver Maurizio Gerini had an accident around kilometer 330, just after passing the last checkpoint before the end of the stage, about 100 kilometers from the finish line of stage 1 of the Dakar 2025.
As the organization reported to the MD in the BIsha bivouac, both Laia and Maurizio got out of their car alone and without injuries and proof of this they refused to ask for help to start from that moment to assess the damage and fix it in the fastest way possible.
It all happened at 12:22 Spanish time and for now they are still being held.
Until then, Laia is 26th on the stage, 12’43” behind the best time at kilometer 330. (We will provide more information when we know more news).
