There is already a disciplinary resolution on the dismissal last Saturday of the substitute goalkeeper of Leganes, Juan Sorianoin the final moments of Espanyol-Leganés. Initially, and according to article 107 of the Disciplinary Code regarding changing the order of the match of a serious nature, the goalkeeper was exposed to three matches according to this same relative article “throw some balls“.

In it he also clarified about throwing balls in the field since “when the throw for which the previous paragraph is made, at least on one occasion, by any football player, by any of the members of the benches, in addition to imposing on the club the penalty or penalties of which the first section of this article, a violation will be considered a foul and will result in the direct expulsion from the field of play of the author of both and the imposition of a three-game suspension.“.

In the end the RFEF disciplinary body sanctioned the goalkeeper in just one match. Several elements were key. First, the article talks about throwing ‘several balls’ and the minutes state it was ‘only one’. And the regret expressed by the club and the player in the appeal presented was also key. The Committee therefore took advantage of article 129 regarding conduct contrary to good sporting order, which establishes a penalty of between one and three games and a fine of up to 602 euros.
