All the keys to today’s Champions League matches

Date:

ATALANTA-STURM GRAZ

Atalanta come into the match against Sturm Graz at the worst moment of the season, after five consecutive games without a win in Serie A. However, it is a different story in Europe, because despite the last defeat against Real Madrid (2 -3 ) is only two points away from the top 8 positions. The Bergamasco team needs to win to reach the final day at Montjuïc against Barça with real options for the top 8. The Austrians are almost eliminated.

MONACO-ASTON VILLA

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, 5th in the Champions League table and therefore in the zone of direct access to the round of 16, will want to take another big step towards that round tonight against Monaco in Louis II. Although the team from the Principality started this league stage by beating Barcelona 2-1, they are currently 16th in the table, 3 points away from the zone of direct access to the round of 16 .The ‘villains’ came from defeat at Newcastle (1-4).

LIVERPOOL-LILLE

Liverpool are looking to complete their excellent Champions League group by beating Lille and gain direct passage to the round of 16. Although a draw would be worthwhile for Slot’s team, Premier and Champions League leaders. The ‘red’ team is, along with Barça, the only team that can be sure of its presence either in the round of 16 or in the playoffs.

Liverpool face the visit of a team led by Bruno Génésio still buoyed by the victory in extremis against Brentford at the weekend in stoppage time. Lille finished third in Ligue 1 and is having a good campaign in the Champions League, where it is eighth and has not lost more or less than teams as strong as Atlético and Real Madrid.

BOLOGNA-BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, 5th in the Champions League table and therefore in the zone of direct access to the round of 16, will want to take another big step towards that round tonight against Monaco in Louis II. Although the team from the Principality started this league stage by beating Barcelona 2-1, they are currently 16th in the table, 3 points away from the zone of direct access to the round of 16 .The ‘villains’ came from defeat at Newcastle (1-4).

WITCHES-JUVENTUS

Borussia Dortmund, currently runner-up in the Champions League, is measuring the results of its crisis in Europe. With Nuri Sahin much talked about and on the verge of dismissal in recent weeks, he will be looking to win to make it into the top eight. Borussier is ninth now, but if they win their two games they will be in the top eight and avoid the playoff to access the round of 16. In front of them they will have a Bologna team that needs a miracle to avoid removed.

RED STAR- PSV

Luuk de Jong’s PSV need a win in their visit to Red Star to avoid playing on the final day against Liverpool for a chance to finish in the top 24 and enter the round of 16 playoffs. The Dutch are the penultimate team to qualify today. Up front is Red Star who will be looking to give victory to their fans.

SLOVAN BRATISLAVA-STUTTGART

Stuttgart, currently runners-up in Germany, visit Slovan today on the penultimate day of the Champions League stage, one of three teams already eliminated from the tournament (along with Leipzig and Young Boys). Stuttgart, for its part, is in a difficult situation, as it is 26th in the table, with only 7 points added so far.
