He Leonese boxer Antonio Barrul was acquitted this Thursday for the fight he participated in last May in the wilderness Leo’s theatersn when he defended a woman from her partner, a fact that went viral on social networks when attendees recorded it.
The young athlete went to testify this Thursday in the courts of León for the attack on the man who filed the complaint although he did not appear in the trial and, due to the lack of indictment by the Prosecutor’s Office, the hearing was not held and The judge issued an acquittal sentence.
On May 1, the 25-year-old boxer punched a man who was harassing a woman at a screening of a children’s film at a cinema in León.
As can be seen in the video recorded by a spectator, the beginning of the fight took place after a man, who was obviously angry, began to scold his female companion, and insult her.
The boxer, who was in the room with his children watching a movie ‘Garfield‘, he tried to intervene and asked the man to stop his attitude, but he started another insult.
The two ended up facing each other right under the cinema screen and Barrul punched the other man several times, causing him to fall to the ground and in this position he fell to his knees.
While some viewers commented that Barrul did a good job defending the woman, others rushed out of the room with their children.
After punching him several times, Barrul apologized to the viewers and can be heard in the video saying: “I’m very sorry, it really hurts me.” Furthermore, on the same day the man was reported by his wife for the mistreatment suffered in the cinema.
Barrul, for his part, apologized again Thursday as he left the courthouse where family and friends were waiting for him, although he said an abuser “shouldn’t be given any kind of punishment -according.”
Because of these events, Barrul has also been of no consequence in sports since Royal Spanish Boxing Federation He always shows his support to the boxer.
