French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, until now on loan from Arsenal to the Marseille line -up, is already a permanent member of the French club. Marseille are paying 10.5 million euros for the midfielder, whose good performance during the loan period means he will remain with the Vélodrome team.
Guendouzi, 23, made 55 appearances for Marseille last season and was called up to the France squad. The Marseille club used the purchase option to come out of the player’s contract for him to stay permanently. Guendouzi was loaned to Marseille on July 6, 2021.
Guendouzi has played 82 games for Arsenal, but he last played for the Gunners in June 2020. The announcement that he will remain at Marseille came on the same day when Jorge Sampaoli’s departure was announced. Until now the coach of Marseille and decided not to continue.
