The vehicle hit Valverde and another cyclist, his teammate. Neither the driver nor the passenger car could be identified. The 42-year-old cyclist from Murcia was treated at the scene by paramedics and later transferred to Virgen de La Arrixaca University Hospital.
According to 112, he has a “hematoma/trauma”, although his injuries are not serious. The other victim, who was slightly injured, was also treated on the spot by the toilets and later transferred to the same hospital. The Movistar team has confirmed that he is also OK.
Local police officers from the Municipal Council of Murcia and an ambulance from the Emergency Management and Health Emergencies 061 (an ambulance from the Emergency Service) traveled to the site of the event.
