The Spanish Yago Rojo, Olympic in Paris 2024, was able to climb the Madrid marathon podium with a third place (2h09: 35), in a race governed by Ethiopia athletes.
The Rock ‘N’ Roll running series, covering the marathon, half marathon and 10K distances, brought 45,000 participants, a record of participation in the 47 editions of the test.
The 45,000 participants, distributed in 13,000 marathons, 23,000 half marathons and 9,000 of 10K, exceeded five thousand 2024 and assumed an unimaginable figure in 1978, when the first edition of the event was held with only 7,500 runners.
Of the 45,000 runners, 11,948 came from outside Spain, representing 25%. In that percentage the most are the arrival of France (3,119), the United Kingdom (1,215), Italy (778), the United States (760), Germany (707) and Mexico (591) as the most contributing countries.
Aside from the thousands of popular corridors that shone on the streets of Madrid, the spotlights were also taken by select athletes, giving a good show with one hand.
The fastest was Ethiopian Dera Hurisa, who stopped at Chrono in 2h09: 11. Second is his countryman Limenih Getichew (2H09: 28) and third Madrid Red Yago (2H09: 35), who planted the ‘navy’ of Africa, endured pulling the main moments and showing his good state in his city.
In the female category the success went to another -etiopia, Maritu ketemewith a better mark of 2H29: 51 that in Madrid improved up to 2h25: 55.
Catalan Marta Anger, seven months after becoming a mother, ended the tenth In a Chrono of 2H35: 27, the best brand of a Spanish career.
“I was happy to come back and the people’s condition because I found myself well. Last year I ran soft, ten kilometers, because I was pregnant, and this year it had to be a return to Madrid,” Martha Gimple said when she arrived at Meta Gimy.
In the half marathon, in the category of women, there was a triplet of Spain on the podium with the victory of Isabel Barreiro (1h14: 05), followed by María Lázaro (1H17: 34) and Clara Viñarás (1H19: 39).
To the man the winner is the Keniano Kalipus Lomwai (1H00: 44).
The ten -pilot race had two winners in Spain, Catalan Adam Majó (29:12) and the Segoviana águeda Marqués (32:45). Both are accompanied by the podium by Tariku Noval (29:25) and Adrián Ben (29:54), in the men’s category, and Marta Pérez (33:02) and Paula Herrero (34:15).
