Tadej Pogacar: "I will win every second I can"

Date:

Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, head of the Tour de France, justified his last attack on the group of favorites on the need to increase his income and made sure he would do so whenever he had the option.

“If there is a possibility to get more seconds, why not? We control the race, no one surprised us and I had a chance to get a few seconds. I jumped, I think it was a good day”, assuring the UAE cyclist, who put up 3 seconds over all his rivals except Danish Jonas Vingegaard.

Pogacar assured that this Sunday’s session shows that he has “one of the best teams” on the Tour, despite those who believe this is his weakness.

The UAE put American Brandon Mcnulty on break, which allowed him to work on the final stage, Spaniard Marc Soler set the tempo for most of the day and on the last climb he was assisted by New Zealander George Bennett and the Polish Rafal Majka.

Pogacar pointed out that, despite what one might think, the Tour was very open, with just 39 seconds to Vingegaard and 1.17 to British Geraint Thomas.

The Slovenian pointed out that Dane “showed that he was very strong, although he indicated that“ it could not be reduced to a battle ”between the two, as the other rivals were also close in overall standing.

After a day off on Monday, the peloton will face a mid-mountain day and two hard alpine days, with finals at Granon and Alpe d’Huez.

“Both scary. The Granon with Galibier before it will be very difficult, but also the Alpe d’Huez with the Croix de Fer. I think this second could be the hardest on the Tour,” he said.
