Santander will no longer sponsor the League from next season

Date:

They end six years of close cooperation, but will jointly explore new forms of cooperation

LaLiga and Banco Santander announced in mutual agreement on Monday that they would end the current sponsorship deal that the financial entity had had with the league since the 2016-17 season. The change, which will take effect from next year, comes from the joint decision to explore new forms of collaboration, both jointly and with third parties.

Over these six seasons of alliance, a relationship has been built that goes beyond the official sponsorship of the League in the First and Second Divisions, for which the bank, according to some sources, paid about 20 million annually to the club’s employers.

According to the statement of the body chaired by Javier Tebas, which will announce its new sponsor in the coming days, “there has been many years of close cooperation between the two teams, with a very high level of understanding and understanding that has enabled them to promote community projects as successful as LaLiga Promises (football under 12) or the main sponsor of the LaLiga league».

One of the most iconic projects from this collaboration is without a doubt LaLiga Genuine Santander. So much so that both sides are working together on a model to continue sponsoring this league, which has resulted in LaLiga, along with its Foundation, becoming the first football league in the world to have a league for footballers with intellectual disabilities.
