Catalan driver Dani Juncadella this Sunday achieved second position in the first race of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup held in Imola, Italy. The team behind the wheel of the #88 Mercedes AMG has been fighting for victory with Audi throughout the race.
The weekend started in the best possible way with P1 in free training and pre-qualy. Emotions in the qualifying session on Saturday were also very positive. On Sunday they started the race from P3 and from the start they were fighting for the first positions.
Dani Juncadella was in charge of making the second stint. Finally, the AKKA ASP Team consisting of Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon and Raffaele Marciello crossed the finish line of Imola 3h in second place.
“It was a great weekend. Imola 3h is a very complex race. Of the 52 vehicles, a lot can go wrong, you’re stuck with that, as happened to mealthough we still managed to finish third in the race ”, explained the Catalan rider.
“I am happy to start the season with a very good result in GT World Challenge Europe. The vehicle is very competitive, the team is at a very good level and my teammates are also at a very high level.. So we are eager to follow this trend and reap great rewards from all the work we do ”, Juncadella concluded.
The next stop for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup will be at Paul Ricard from June 3-5.
Juncadella will compete this season in the ADAC GT Masters, GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, Intercontinental GT Challenge and the 24h of the Nürburgring. and the preparatory careers, in addition to other careers that remain to be confirmed.
