The Kenyan marathoner Lawrence Cherono and the American Quattrocento Randolph Ross was temporarily suspended by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) as a result of their doping violations, and therefore they cannot participate in Eugene World Championships in Athleticswhich started this Friday.
Cherono tested positive for trimetazidine, a substance that changes the way the body metabolizes fats, in an out-of-competition control which he underwent on May 23, and the poor results of tests performed. in the Lausanne laboratory contacted the AIU on July 13, a few hours before the African arrived in Eugene.
Cherono will not be able to start this Sunday’s World Cup marathon, though the AIU will file a protest with the Swiss laboratory for taking 47 days to announce test results, when the limit is 20 from sample receipt.
For his part, Randolph Ross was suspended for allegedly manipulating the doping control procedure. The AIU opened an investigation for violation of regulations on the obligation to go to the designated location for doping control that was tested on June 18.
The immediate suspension will prevent Ross from competing this Sunday in the 400m heats at the World Championships.
