On the night of Saturday, a curious accident took place in Judendorf-Straßengel near Graz. A heavily intoxicated man stole a car, caused an accident and then tried to flee. Fortunately no one was injured.
It was around 12:30 p.m. when a pizza delivery boy left the key in the ignition of his small car during a delivery in Graz. A 30-year-old Romanian, already heavily intoxicated, seized the opportunity, took the driver’s seat and drove off.
Random walk ends in a wall
His odyssey went well for half an hour before crashing into the wall of Café Marianne in Judendorf-Straßengel. The man tried to flee through a garden, but was stopped there by residents who were aware of the accident due to the loud bang.
Police arrived a short time later and arrested the man. It turned out that he had two parts per thousand alcohol in his blood. He is now charged with car theft, drink-driving and driving. According to the police, the 30-year-old is known to the authorities and comes from the homeless environment of Graz.
