Serbian Alexandra Krunic ended up defending the tennis tournament’s title budapest from Kazakh Yulia Putintsevathird favorite and champion last year, after winning a double 6-2 and aiming for the title that the American will also bid Bernarda Pera.
Krunic defeated Putintseva who amassed eight straight wins in Budapest from where he won last year. The Balkan player, who won the title in Bolduque in 2018 and lost in the final in Guangzhou in 2017, could extend his record in Hungary.
Now he will be rival Pera, who ousted ninth-seeded Hungarian Anna Bondar (6-3, 6-4) from the competition. For the North American it will be the first final of his career.
For its part, the Serbian Olga Danilovycy croatian Petra Martin will play in the final of the Lausanne tennis tournament after defeating, respectively, the Russian Anastasia Potapova and the French Caroline Garcia.
Both are seeking a second WTA victory of their careers. Danilovic, 124th in the ranking, again defeated Russian Anastasia Potapova, 6-3, 6-2. The Serbian left-hander is proud of the title he won in Moscow in 2018 after beating Potapova in the final.
This is the second time the Moscow-born Serbian has bid for a title. On Sunday, her rival was Croatian Petra Martic who needed three sets to beat Frenchman Caroline Garcia (6-4, 1-6 and 6-3).
This will be the fifth final for Martic, who has won only one of the former. It will be in Istanbul in 2019.
Danilovic and Martic met once: at the Australian Open last year, with a victory for the Serbian.
