Date:

FINA recently published its qualification processes for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in its various disciplines.

swimming

-Two athletes per country and individual test with OQT times (minimum FINA A). They were obtained from the times of the fourteenth classified by each test at Tokyo 2020.

-Places by invitation with OCT time (FINA B equivalent). These are obtained by applying an additional 0.5% of the time to each OQT. They will be distributed among countries without any category so that they have a maximum of two athletes, one male and one female. To qualify for them, athletes must have competed in the 2023 Fukuoka World Cup or the 2024 Doha World Cup. compete.

-Qualification period from March 1, 2023 to June 23, 2024

-Through relays:

-Maximum sixteen teams per test

-3 classified by Fukuoka 2023 World Cup event

-13 remaining teams in each test in the Doha 2024 World Cup series (rankings of the Tokyo process are thus removed)

-Two additional athletes may be selected for each classified relay.

artistic swimming

-Team event: 10 countries

-1 place for France as organizer (assuming European qualifying continental place)

-4 places for the first classified continental qualifier of America, Africa, Asia and Oceania

-5 places for the first five countries of the Doha 2024 World Cup without previous places. Technical exercise notes and the free will be added

The Doha World Cup is therefore the only qualification option for the Spanish team. This championship will take on the work usually carried out in the Pre-Olympic

-Trial by duos: 18 countries

-10 places for team qualifications (including France as host)

-5 places for the first classified continental qualifier of Africa, America, Oceania, Asia and Europe. If the highest ranked team already has a spot in the team, it goes to the next ranked team

-At least 3 spots for the Doha 2024 World Cup. If any duo qualifies in this World Cup country’s competition, the duo’s classification from this championship will be used to determine the next eligible country.

open water

The main and fundamental change is that drop participation from 25 to 22 swimmers in both the men’s and women’s 10 kilometers. They will get a place, with a maximum of two swimmers per country and event:

-1 place per gender for the host

-3 places by gender for the first three classifieds of the Fukuoka 2023 World Cup

-13 places by gender for the top thirteen classifieds of the Doha 2024 World Cup. If in any of the classifieds the maximum of two swimmers per country is exceeded, the place goes to the next classified.

-5 places per gender for the first classified from Africa, America, Oceania, Asia and Europe in the Doha 2024 World Cup whose country did not get a place according to the above criteria.

jumping

A maximum of 16 jumpers are allowed per country, with a maximum of eight athletes per gender, a maximum of one pair per event and two athletes in individual events. Maximum 136 total athletes.

-Three meter trampoline and ten meter platform

-12 first classified by gender of the World Cup in Fukuoka 2023

-5 additional places per gender: First place in each continental event designated by FINA in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania (5 places maximum). Places will only run if the first qualifier achieves a place through another criterion. If a continental (minimum two participating countries) is not held, it will decide which championship serves as such.

-12 first gendered World Cup in Doha 2024

-If necessary to complete the total quota of 136 athletes, the available places will be granted from the 13th to the 21st classified of the Doha 2024 World Cup

– Synchronized on a three-meter springboard and synchronized on a ten-meter platform: eight teams in each category

-1 slot for host France

-3 first classified teams of Fukuoka World Cup 2023

-4 first classified teams without a place in the Doha 2024 World Cup

Water polo

Twelve men’s teams and ten women’s teams will participate. In principle, the participation of twelve athletes per team is planned, one less than usual. FINA had already tried to reduce the calls for the Tokyo Games, although it eventually allowed the usual thirteen players per team.

-Men’s competition: 12 teams

-1 place for the organizer: France

-2 places in Fukuoka 2023 World Cup: champion and runner-up

-5 places for continental champions. If they do have a place through the World Cup, it will be for the runner-up. If a continental is not held, the place will go to the best category of that continent in the Doha 2024 World Cup.

-4 places for the first four countries that do not yet have a place in the Doha 2024 World Cup. Possible continental vacancies will be assumed in this way if they occur.

-Women’s competition: 10 teams

-1 place for the organizer: France

-2 places in Fukuoka 2023 World Cup: champion and runner-up

-5 places for continental champions. If they do have a place through the World Cup, it will be for the runner-up. If a continental is not held, the place will go to the best category of that continent in the Doha 2024 World Cup.
