Lewandowski: ‘I hope to score many goals with Barca’

Date:

The Polish striker was introduced in Miami on Wednesday and will be available to play against Real Madrid

“I really want to win titles and conquer things with this great club. I will work hard on the pitch, it’s incredible to be here,” said Robert Lewandowski on his debut as a Barca player. The Polish winger was presented in Miami with great anticipation and will be available to make his debut as Blaugrana in the Las Vegas classic that Xavi’s men will play against Real Madrid next Saturday.

Smile from ear to ear, as if it’s a youth going into the preseason with the first team. Lewandowski came on the podium in Miami, wearing the new shirt of the culé club, to present himself as a Barça player. The joy of the Pole was surpassed only by the radiant sun of the east coast of the United States and by the happiness of a euphoric Joan Laporta with his new reinforcement.

“It has not been easy and we are very proud that you wanted to play with us. We need you, you are a star and we have high expectations. We want to make an increasingly competitive team and we are moving forward very well, we put Barcelona back in the world,” said the maximum chairman of the culé.

It was the culmination of a ‘low cost’ presentation. Lewandowski posed for a photocall with the club’s sponsors wearing a no-numbered shirt, awaiting the future of Memphis Depay, who currently wears number 9. The man from Warsaw was satisfied after the first days of connecting with the rest of his classmates and he even launched with his first jokes.

“My name is Robert, I’m from Poland and I live in Barcelona,” he said in perfect Spanish as soon as he arrived. It was his calling card before he once again made clear his ambition for the future of the new project. “There is a lot of quality in the team and a lot of potential. I’m in a good club, although we have a lot of work to do. In football it’s important to want to win and I think I’m in the best place to do that. I hope to score a lot of goals, it’s my challenge,” he said.

Lewandowski finished his presentation act and got to work preparing his first game as a Blaugrana footballer. The former Bayern Munich player can now train with the rest of the group and could even make his first minutes against Real Madrid if Xavi sees fit. It would be a dream debut, another step for a Barca that continues to work in the market and hopes to close additions in the defensive field in the coming days.
