“Many of us are not giving up on another Olympic dream,” said the first deputy mayor, James Colboni, which refers to the Winter Games. “We don’t know if it will be for 2030 or 2034, but many people will not give up on having the Games again in our city,” added Collboni, responding to the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonesto the Minister of Sports, miquel icetaand the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alexander White.
“This day is very special because we are commemorating 30 years of an event that changed the image of our country inside and outside the country,” assured the COE president.
“This is a tribute to the blessed madmen of this City Council who decided to file a candidacy. Hopefully in 30 years we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Barcelona’92 and the 30th anniversary of the 2030 or 2034 Games. I will give my life to it. Each one in his role, we are all important in Barcelona’92 and now we all have to be united again, ready to walk the same path”, emphasized Blanco.
Quoted by Iceta Narcis Serra, Juan Antonio Samaranch and especially in Pasqual Maragall as key pieces of Barcelona’92. “In Barcelona there was a desire to disrupt it and Pasqual had a vision, he saw things before others and he saw it in a big way. That push continues I live and it is our responsibility to take advantage of it,” added the Spanish Sports Minister.
“The resounding success of Barcelona’92 forms an indissoluble alliance between citizens and institutions. We do not have to look at Barcelona’92 with nostalgia, but as a legacy that should inspire us to continue the transformation of Barcelona and Catalonia to a future full of prosperity Barcelona’92 was the victory we needed as a country, that the Olympic spirit showed us that nothing is impossible and that, in the union of institutions and citizens, we is unstoppable”, said Pere Aragonès.
