The American Decathlete Garrett Scantlingfourth in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, is temporarily suspended for a possible anti-doping rule violation.
The suspension, which was announced Thursday, prevents Scantling from participating in the World Cups decathlon taking place in the US city of Eugene.
The decathlon competition is scheduled for Saturday July 23 and Sunday July 24, and Scantling is included on the entry list.
The American athletics federation, USADA, said in a statement that Scantling’s suspension was the result of his conduct “during the investigation” of his possible third anti-doping rule violation in terms of the location of doping controls.
On his Instagram account, Scantling said: “Unfortunately, forgetfulness is merciless. You have to take responsibility and move on. What next? We’ll see!”.
