Arsenal announced this Friday the signing of Ukrainian left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko for 30 million fixed pounds (35.2 million euros) and two variables (2.3).
Zinchenko, 25, arrives in London from Manchester City, the club he signed for in 2016 and where he has played 128 games.
The winger, who was brought up in the Shakhtar Donetsk youth academy, took refuge in Russia during the Donbas war, where he played for Ufa, until he signed for City in 2016.
After a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, Zinchenko settled in at City, combining the role of substitute with starter, as well as captaining the Ukrainian national team, whose shirt he defended in 52 games.
His record includes four Premier League titles, four League Cups, one FA Cup and he was also a starter in City’s Champions League final defeat to Chelsea in 2021.

“We are very happy that he has arrived,” said Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager who teamed up with the full-back when he was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City. “He is a player I know very well and have followed since my years at City. He has a lot of quality and gives us a lot of options thanks to his versatility in attack and defence.”
Arsenal, the biggest spenders
Zinchenko is Arsenal’s fifth signing of this summer market after Gabriel Jesus (also signed from City), Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira. The ‘gunners’ have been the club that has invested the most this summer in reinforcements with 132 million euros in reinforcements, surpassing Bayern Munich’s 117.
City, the most entering
For its part, the ‘citizens’ have been confirmed as the best selling club in the European market with 160 million euros entered mainly in the transfers of Raheem Sterling (Chelsea), Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal) and now Zinchenko.
