Celtic coach Ange Postecoglou blew up the “goofs” who spoiled Sunday’s derby in Ibrox and threw things at Hobbs.
When both teams went out in the second half, the second half was delayed by three minutes as goalkeeper Joe Hart told referee Willie Columbus and his manager that the broken glass had been knocked from the Rangers’ end.
A Celtic staff member also asked for a point regarding a separate “head injury” that occurred during the incident.
The visitors won the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Tom Rojic and Cameron Carter Vickers in response to Aaron Ramsey’s early opener.
But Postekoglu condemned the horrific incidents for a moment, saying: “Yes, they (the staff) were on their way.
“I think it’s fine, several points have been made.
“It’s frustrating because it’s a game that spans the entire world and stands on its own.
“You had two teams in first and second and you don’t have to destroy some idiot.”
Staff on site took action to clear the debris in half, while plastic cups appeared to have been thrown away when goalkeeper Jota was kicked out of the corner and players were celebrating with the visiting fans.
A Celtic spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a staff member in our back room hit a glass bottle.
He needed an ambulance and sewed up the wound. The case is now in the hands of the Scottish Police.”
Ali Maquist had earlier described the broken bottle incident that delayed the start of the second half of the derby as “fatal nonsense”.
Celtic goalkeeper Hart asked to remove debris from his penalty area before the crucial league match could resume.
The start of the match was delayed by three minutes as items were removed from the field.
The former Rangers striker McQuest, who worked as a Sky Sports co-commentator, called the behavior “gross nonsense” while also hitting teammate Andy Walker.
The former Celtic striker Walker said: “We are looking to sell this game around the world. It is such a shame that anyone would throw everything on the field, let alone the broken bottle.”
A shocked Rangers champion added McCquist: “You think something wouldn’t surprise you, but it’s precious to me. Ugly nonsense.”
Chris Sutton tweeted: “Absolute scum tossing bottles in the field. How far can someone go? So you will remember this match now.”
Celtic’s six-point win put Rangers at the top of the table with just six games left.
