The Celtics’ legendary center won 11 NBA rings, the most in history

Bad news for NBA fans who lost one of their legends today. Bill Russell (02/12/1934), legendary American basketball player, died this Sunday at the age of 88, leaving behind his 11 rings, most of which won in the ranks of the Celtics.

At 2,08m tall, Bill Russell established himself from the pivotal position as one of the references of the Celtics who have won 11 times in 13 years. Basketball legend, he attended the University of San Francisco and won the NCAA in both 1955 and 1956 with the San Francisco Dons.

After college, Russell was selected #2 in the first round of the Draft by the St. Louis Hawks, although he ended up spending his entire career with the Boston Celtics. His accolades include five regular season NBA MVPs who were the best rebounder of the year four times, as well as gold at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He also played in a dozen All Star Games.
