Rafa Nadal has announced that he will play in the Cincinnati ATP Masters 1000

Date:

Rafael Nadal, 36 years old and world number 3, will reappear next week, from August 14 to 21, at Cincinnati ATP Masters 1000which will also serve as a final preparation for the dispute of US Openin New York, from August 29 to September 11.

Nadal announced that he will travel this Thursday to the American city, after deciding to postpone the return and not play the current Masters 1000 ATP of Canada, in Montreal. He gave himself a few more days of preparation at home and gave more room to the rectus abdominis muscle where he suffered a seven-millimeter tear that prevented him from playing in the semifinals of the last Wimbledon.

“Since the days off and my subsequent return to training, everything has gone well these weeks in terms of training and preparation. Four days ago I also started in-service training and yesterday, after the training, i had some discomfort which is still there till now. .

We have decided not to travel to Montreal and continue training without pressure,” Nadal said in an official statement on Friday in August.

The concept of “small annoyance” and that the work plan continued, taking special care of the service, announced that Cincinnati was the next stop, except for an accident.

He has not competed in this Masters 1000 since 2017, when he lost in the quarterfinals to Australian Nick Kyrgios. He won the 2013 edition, defeating American John Isner in the final.
