The Valencian pilot Nerea Marti Debuted in a big way at the Spanish Endurance Championship (CER) with his partner Jose Manuel of Miracles and the BMW Spain Motorsport team. He did this by winning one race and taking second place in another at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia in the D1 category. Nerea, at 20, is one of the greatest female talents of the future on the international scene. Last year he made his W-Series debut shining, achieving a podium in the fourth race of the year and always among the top 8, finishing with great consistency in fourth place in the tournament. Martiwho dreams of becoming an F1 driver, explained to MD her great expectations for this year in other races in which she competes, in the CER Championship with BMW M2 CS Racing, and assured that “women currently have good opportunity, everything. the world is trying to support us and we need to take advantage of it ”.
How did your passion for cars begin?
When I was nine years old, my father and my uncle opened Karting in Albalat from sorells KARTING HORTA NORD. At first they didn’t allow me to fight because we didn’t know the world but finally when I was 13 I convinced them and we entered the top competition. That’s where my passion for motorsport started.
You were the first female junior champion in 2017 of the Formula Champions, did you feel greater difficulty for being a woman?
In 2017 I won my first championship, which was great because it was the first year I entered a competition team with the professionals and that’s where I started to grow a lot. It’s not that hard because I’m a woman, I have to make an effort like a man, we worked hard and the team did too, so we finally reached the goal of winning the championship.
What do you think is the current moment in women’s sport?
I think in the world of motorsport, women currently have an incredible opportunity, everyone is trying to support and there are a lot of opportunities. We are in a good moment and we should take advantage of it.
The GT-CER, the Spanish Endurance Championship, your first year. What do you think of this competition?
It was a great championship and a great opportunity to run it alongside BMW Spain. We’ve already done the Winter series as a preseason for CER and I think it will be worthwhile to win the CER, which is the goal.
On your first test in Valencia with the BMW Spain team you achieved first and second place. What is your goal for this year?
The first home test and we took first position in the first race was very positive for the team and for the championship. The goal is to win, so we need to be as consistent as possible to achieve the goal.
What do you think is the car they are competing in, the BMW M2 CS Racing?
This is the only tourism I have tried but the truth is it is amazing. I really like the feeling we have with the car. This is new for the whole team so we need to continue developing it with these new tires, but we are becoming more and more clear about setting up for different track conditions.
Which of this year’s circuits do you think is most favorable for you?
Perhaps the most desirable is Valencia, although it can also be very positive to run on circuits where we are in the winter series, for example the next race in Portimao, because we got there with this car so it can be a little. advantage.for us.
How do you prepare for races?
I do my preparation at CETDM, it is a motorsport center that specializes in driving training where I can train there twice a day throughout the week, we train in the morning and in the afternoon every day. I was able to prepare well both physically and mentally. I also had the opportunity to practice with the simulators and be better prepared for the circuits to come.
In a seemingly individual sport like steering, how does it feel to form a team with José Manuel de los Milagros?
I always think of motorsport as a team sport, because ultimately it also depends on a lot of other people within the same team. But obviously in these categories where we share a car it’s still more of a team. It was wonderful to be able to share a car and equipment with Jose Manuel De Los Milagros and learn from all his experiences
What is your dream as a pilot?
My goal in the motor world is to become a professional driver and survive in this world. And my dream since I was a kid has been to compete in formulas and hopefully in Formula 1
