The Romanian FCSB (formerly Steaua Bucharest) will play its game this Thursday against Norwegian Viking, from the qualifying phase of the Conference League, with its two stadium funds closed to the public, after its fans displayed a neo-Nazi symbol in the previous game.
The penalty was issued by UEFA to punish the “racist behavior” of FCSB fans who displayed a flag with neo-Nazi symbols in one of the funds of the Bucharest National Stadium during the FCSB-Dunajska Streda, which was played on August 11, reports Romanian news portal G4Media.
The flag in question contains a white Celtic cross on a black background with the face of a hooded youth in the center.
UEFA’s guide to prohibited symbols considers the Celtic cross an extremist symbol that incites violence.
In addition to the partial closure of its stadium, FCSB had to pay a fine of 30,000 for displaying the flag and launching flares during the match against Slovakian Dunajska Streda.
