“Jonas Vingegaard will not be part of the World Cup squad as he prefers to focus on other commitments under the auspices of Jumbo-Visma,” Danish coach Anders Lund said in a statement.
Those who will join the World Cup in Wollongong (Australia), which will be held from September 18 to 25, are their compatriots Mattias Skjelmose Jensen (Trek-Segafredo), Jakob Fuglsang (Israel – Premier Tech), Søren Kragh Andersen (Team DSM) and Magnus Cort Nielsen (EF Education-EasyPost).
Lund will announce the names of the remaining four members of the Danish team on August 29.
Vingegaard, the first Dane to win the Tour since Bjarne Riis did it in 1996, had previously announced that he would also not take part in the Tour of Denmark, which starts today.
