The industry will publish the resolutions of the Perte VEC in October

Date:

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism,
Kings Marotohas assured that the government will publish “the beginning of October” the final resolutions regarding the projects submitted to receive the support related to the Perte of the Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC).

In the context of an informational breakfast organized by Europa Press, Maroto confirmed that the Executive is reviewing the allegations presented by the three companies (out of 13 who attended the call) whose projects had been omitted from the initial distribution of Perte VEC funds. , as were led by
Stellantis (for Madrid and Galicia), Rieju and Envision.

“As we evaluate the allegations, I know that all the companies have made an effort to justify some of the elements that the engineers deemed insufficient and
we are in a position to increase that initial budget that we allocated, that was about 700 million,” said the minister.

With regard to the situation of Ford, which decided not to take any initiative to qualify for aid, Maroto wanted to “give confidence” and emphasized that the
just because he didn’t go to Perte doesn’t mean he’s under no obligation with the investment in its factory in Almussafes (Valencia).

Therefore, he added that the government will continue to supervise these and other projects that, due to their schedule, do not fit into the Perte VEC, which requires the investments to be completed by mid-2025.

On the other hand, the head of the Industry, Trade and Tourism portfolio expressed the Executive’s support for the development of the semiconductor industry, with a Perte endowed with 12,250 million euros.

So he pointed out that now
we talk to the main manufacturers and work is underway on a map of industrial capabilities, in line with the form of action carried out with the Electric and Connected Vehicles project.

In this line, he emphasized that, due to the existing dependence on the European region, after the step taken in Europe to promote this industry, Spain should be able to cope with the task. For example, he confirmed that Spain can have chip production facilities, but pointed out that it is not necessary to compete in Europe, but to add and choose to bring the best project.

“We want to bring the chip factories to Spain, we are ambitious, but we are aware that given the fragility of the European industry, Spain will support it if there is a guiding European project, but we wanted to lead a project,” emphasized he.
