Public transport is the means of transport that the Spaniards use the most. Specifically, 75% say they’ve used it, with special emphasis on:
users between 56 and 65 years, in which this percentage rises to 84%. In contrast, the second most used bicycle are bicycles and shared bicycles, as 32.7% admit to using them, especially in the 36-45 age group, where this percentage rises to 64.1%.
In addition, 13.1% of Spaniards surveyed admit to using carsharing, especially in the 36-45 age group, with the percentage rising to 20.8%. For his part,
the electric scooter it has a lower usage penetration in our country: it only convinces 4.7% of the requested Spanish users, although it is increasing among 26 to 35 year olds, of whom 16.7% use it regularly.
Spaniards between 26 and 35 years old (32.2%) and those between 36 and 45 (30.4%) are the ones who attach more importance
to the speed to reach a destination. However, it is interesting to note that, depending on age, user preferences change.
Those between 56 and 65 value the availability of the vehicle (18.8%) and the quality of service (19.8%) more, while those between 46 and 55 prefer the cost
private vehicles (18.9%) and comfort (17.2%). In addition, it should be noted that the youngest are the most concerned about the environment, especially those between the ages of 18 and 25 who value the personal carbon footprint they produce when using the vehicle (14.3%) .
This is data that FreeNow is collecting in a study conducted with the aim of better understanding Spaniards’ mobility habits. In line with this concern for the environment, the company has, through its mobility app, its own comprehensive sustainability strategy, Move to Net-Zero, whose goal is
reaching net zero emissions of CO2 by 2030. So far, 200,000 tons of CO2 have been offset and a total of 13,000 tons of CO2 avoided in Europe since 2019.
