Manufactured at the Palencia factory, the Austral has an electric range of motors
Replacing the Kadjar, the Renault Austral is the new compact SUV of the French brand and competes with models such as the Seat Ateca, Hyundai Tucson or Peugeot 3008.
The engine range is electrified with two micro-hybrid versions of 140 and 160 hp and two conventional hybrids of 160 and 200 hp. For example, all Renault Austral have the Eco-label of the DGT.
In its WLTP homologation, the E-Tech hybrid engine registers a consumption of 4.6 liters per 100 km – in real use they are closer to 6 – but if you are looking for an Eco label, the mild hybrid is 12 volts also does the trick.
For the Austral can be chosen for two different engines, each with two powers. The mild hybrids are available in 140 and 160 hp, with a 1.3-litre engine made in collaboration with Daimler. The less powerful version is the only one available with a manual transmission.
Instead, the E-Tech hybrids can be selected between 160 or 200 horsepower. These engines are 1.2-litre three-cylinder, but are mated to a 400-volt electrical system and a 2 kWh battery.
The price list starts at 30,900 euros and goes up to 43,600 euros at the top of the range.
