Avenger: the first 100% electric Jeep gets a petrol version in Spain

Date:

The Paris Motor Show was the setting Jeep chose to showcase its first 100% electric model, the Avenger. A car that we also got to see
at the Tychy factory (Poland), built between 1972 and 1975, covers an area of more than 2.4 million square meters. These facilities will receive the final details even before series production of the model begins.

It is a car designed in Europe and aimed at European customers, with
a compact design but that retains the essence of Jeep in its aesthetics and in its dimensions for “off-road” driving, that is, with remarkable angles of entry, exit and height to the ground.

The new Avenger is a compact SUV that, with a length of only four meters,
is located in segment Ba category that is growing rapidly and has become the second largest European segment by volume.

Antonella Bruno, Head of Jeep Europe At Stellantis, he explained that “The Jeep Avenger represents our entry into the battery-electric field. It will be the new gateway to the Jeep world and will allow us to cover all the needs of the SUV market. The Avenger adds a new level of electrification to our offering and represents another step in the evolution of the Jeep brand.”

Despite
the first 100% electric car from the company, for the Spanish and Italian markets, will also have a petrol version, which will equip the 100 hp 1.2-litre engine.

In terms of electrification, the Jeep Avenger is equipped with a modern
400 volt electric drive which combines a new electric motor, a reliable transmission and a new battery. With a 100 kW Mode 4 cable connected to DC power from a fast charging station at a public station, three minutes is enough to achieve a range of 30 km, or 24 minutes to charge the battery to 20%-80% of its capacity.

Taking into account that European users travel an average of 30 km per day, it is likely that the vehicle
can drive for days before you need to charge. On the other hand, by connecting a Mode 3 cable and 11 kW (alternating current) to a Wallbox or a public charging station, it is possible to get a full charge (from 0% to 100%) in 5.5 hours. to be carried out.

The Avenger is also the first front-wheel drive Jeep to include the system.
Select Terrain and Hill Descent Control as default. This system offers six modes: «Normal» for everyday driving, «Eco» to improve autonomy, «Sport» to enjoy a sportier and more enjoyable driving, «Snow» for maximum traction on roads or icy roads, «Mud» to optimize performance in mud and better grip, and «Sand» for sandy soils where the car can get stuck.

With a length of only 4.08 meters, i.e. 16 cm shorter and 13 cm lower than the Renegade, it has some
overhangs front and rear shorts that enhance the proportions. In addition, its presence on the road becomes noticeable thanks to larger wheels than you would expect on a vehicle of this size.

Due to this combination of short overhangs and large wheels, the Jeep Avenger offers the best ground clearance in its category (200 mm) in all versions, as well as approach angles (20°), breakover (20°) and output (32°), which allow
driving off the asphaltbut also useful, for example, when driving up a steep slope in a city parking lot.

The Avenger’s robust and minimalist interior is inspired by the history of the Jeep brand and in particular the CJ of the 1950s, as well as the functional dashboard concept that characterizes the Wrangler.

Once inside the vehicle, the gaze is immediately focused
to top dashboard, along which extends a panel in the form of a crossbar containing all the controls. Above it, a wide shelf serves as a support to support objects.

It has details such as electronically adjustable leather seats with massage function,
multicolored mood lighting, which reduces eye strain when driving in the dark and the stylish sunroof. The vehicle’s parking lights remain visible when the tailgate is opened for added protection and safety.

Despite its size, the suitcase has a capacity of 380 liters, with a large tailgate that facilitates loading and unloading of objects.

Level 2 autonomous driving allows the vehicle
can circulate almost automatically on roads with a high traffic density thanks to the Traffic Jam Assistant. To complete the extensive package of extras, multi-coloured ambient lighting should be added to the automatic climate control, blind spot detection, automatically dimming interior mirror, heated and electrically folding side mirrors, automatic tailgate, 360° parking sensors, rear view camera with drone view and Mode 3 cable for charging at public stations.

The Mopar teamhas designed and developed 100 accessories in collaboration with Jeep that are part of the new Avenger range and that allow a high degree of customization.

The Jeep Avenger arrives at the dealers
early next year, but customers can already pre-order the exclusive launch edition, a highly equipped version with all the extras and 100% electric. The Launch Edition, a fully loaded version of the Avenger, will be available for a monthly fee of €249 (starting price) in select markets. In Europe, the Jeep brand has already made a big change by offering only electric SUVs in countries like
Germany and France.

By the end of this year, 100% of the Jeep SUV portfolio will be electrified in almost all European markets. The plan unveiled by the brand builds on this 4xe drivetrain and develops a portfolio of capable all-electric vehicles designed and sized for Europe. The brand introduces four
zero-emission vehicles in Europe by 2025, with offerings in key volume segments. As a result of this avalanche of products, all Jeep vehicles for sale in the region will be 100% electric by 2030.
