New Nissan X-Trail: enough capacity for up to seven passengers

Date:

With a starting price of €39,990, it is available in five- and seven-seat configurations, as well as excellent modularity and off-road capability to dominate any terrain.

Since its launch in 2001 and has sold more than seven million units worldwide, the Nissan X-Trail arrives in its fourth generation, more capable and versatile than ever. Starting at €39,990, it is available in five and seven seat configurations, as well as excellent modularity and off-road capability to master any terrain. A wide capacity that is reflected in the design at first glance. The X-Trail builds on its signature styling, which is a
feeling of robustness and solidity, without being aggressive.

The exterior is accentuated by signature Nissan design cues such as the floating roof and V-motion grille. The front is framed by distinctive headlamps that appear to be molded into the front bumper, with the combination of daytime running lights and turn signals embedded along the hood line. At the rear, a horizontal line runs just above and below the license plate, while split taillights provide a wide trunk opening. A silver trim under the rear bumper emphasizes the adventurous character of the X-Trail.

Under the hood is the
innovative e-POWER drive system of the brand, consisting of a powerful battery, an integrated motorization with a petrol engine, a power generator, an inverter and a 150 kW (204 hp) front electric motor. The uniqueness of the e-POWER system is that the petrol engine is used exclusively to generate electricity, while the wheels are continuously driven by the electric motor. In this way, the response when depressing the accelerator pedal is immediate and comfortable. In fact, the trips are very pleasant thanks to its balance and dynamism.

All thanks to the interior comfort. The seats hug each passenger with care and the touch controls are simple and intuitive. However, it retains its preference for easy-to-use basic functions such as climate controls and buttons that control functions on the center screen, such as audio and navigation.

The new X-Trail will also be offered with the 1.5-litre Mild Hybrid 12V turbocharged variable compression ratio engine, producing 120 kW (163 hp) and 300 Nm of torque, while retaining the same combustion engine as the previous versions. e-POWER. This variant is only offered in a two-wheel drive configuration and power is transferred to the wheels via the Xtronic step-wise continuously variable transmission.

Also noteworthy is the new e-4ORCE system, which includes a
absolute traction capacity and confident acceleration in all conditions thanks to Nissan’s most advanced four-wheel steering technology. As power is distributed almost instantly based on prevailing conditions, the driver and passengers will be unaware that the system is working to maximize traction and control. The system works even under apparently favorable conditions.

The e-4ORCE system allows the driver to accelerate with confidence, knowing that the correct power will be distributed to the wheels almost immediately based on the available grip. By specifically managing the power and braking performance of each wheel, the e-4ORCE system sends power in a curve to the outer wheels, ensuring agility and stability, helping the vehicle follow the planned line. This advanced traction management is constantly active and ensures stability and traction in all driving scenarios, such as wet, muddy, icy or snowy roads.

The X-Trail also stands out for its versatility and
rear seat access, for example thanks to the opening of the rear passenger doors to almost 90 degrees. In addition, the second row of seats is split in a 60:40 configuration and features a folding center armrest that makes it easy to carry long items, such as skis, without having to fold any of the second row seats. And the sliding of these rear seats maximizes luggage space, while the third row in the seven-seater version is easily accessible.

When both rear seats are not used, the resulting boot space places the X-Trail among the best in class for boot space, with a total capacity of 585 litres, an increase of 20 litres, thanks to its best-in-class floor length and wheelbase. Improvements to the trunk make it easier to load luggage and store small items. In addition, the modularity of the case offers 16 different layouts for optimal use of space.

The hands-free power tailgate provides effortless access to the trunk when the user’s hands are full. In the five-seat version, the flexible luggage platform system has been retained and improved for the new model, with redesigned platforms, upholstered on one side and plastic on the other for easy cleaning.
