Seven-time Formula 1 champion completes one of the first asphalt stages at the wheel of the INEOS Grenadier

Sir
Lewis Hamiltona driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team and a member of the Order of the British Empire, is one of the first people outside the INEOS Automotive team to test drive the Grenadier 4×4.

The Grenadier has traveled 1.8 million kilometers in
a test program extremes and development that have brought him to Death Valley in the US, through the dunes of the deserts of the Middle East, the Arctic Circle and the famous Schöckl Mountain in Austria.

The first person outside the vehicle development team to get behind the wheel of the Grenadier
it was the pilot Lewis Hamilton, who on this occasion swapped the steering wheel of Formula 1 for that of the SUV. “I’m really enjoying being behind the wheel of this car,” said Sir Lewis. “It’s very comfortable, considering the huge potholes we’re going through… And that I’ve been giving it full throttle the whole time. I’m blown away by the amount of grip it has.”

And in the passenger seat he is accompanied by the
INEOS President Sir Jim Ratcliffewho noted that “although we designed the Grenadier to behave well in off-road areas, we didn’t realize it would be so good on the road. I’m convinced no one has ridden it like Lewis.

The design of the new Grenadier demonstrates a clear intent to put function over form, with every detail designed to reflect the vehicle’s practicality. The primary design goal is to provide maximum off-road capability and unsurpassed towing and payload capacity.
Built on a completely new platform To ensure that the design meets the requirements of its future owners, the INEOS Grenadier is a functional, resistant vehicle with maximum comfort that can go anywhere.

“The instructions were simple. We wanted to design a modern, high-capacity 4×4 that was above all functional.”
says Toby Ecuyer, director of design. “A simple design that at first glance shows the role the Grenadier plays in life. With everything you need. Without anything replaceable. Nothing is superfluous. Modern production and engineering techniques are the key to the Grenadier’s high capabilities, but we have managed to preserve the essence of functional vehicles that stand the test of time.”

The interior of the INEOS Grenadier has been designed with one purpose in mind:
offer space, functionality and versatility needed in a powerful 4×4. Born on a blank sheet of paper, the design combines modern technologies with all the comfort expected in this decade and in the future.

“When designing the interior of the Grenadier, we looked closely at today’s aircraft, ships and even tractors for inspiration. There we saw that the switches are distributed to optimally fulfill their function; in fact, the normal controls are within easy reach, while the auxiliary controls are further away”,
comments Toby Ecuyer, design director. “A similar approach can be seen in the Grenadier, where the switch layout serves a functional and logical purpose that makes it easy to use. It has everything you need and nothing you can’t afford.”

In terms of mechanics it has:
BMW petrol and diesel engines Euro 6 3-litre six-cylinder, the B57 and B58. These powertrains will be available with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

INEOS is also studying hydrogen as a clean energy solution for future versions of the vehicle. It has even partnered with AVL, the powertrain engineering firm, to
the prototype Grenadier FCEVwhich uses hydrogen technology and will start testing on and off the asphalt at the end of 2022. The order period for the Grenadier is now open and series production has already started.
