Acciona and Cepsa start the pilot test and install the first exchanger at a petrol station in Barcelona

Acciona and Cepsa have started a pilot test in Barcelona to test a
exchange network batteries for electric vehicles. Specifically, this Thursday in Barcelona (C/ Comte d’Urgell, 219), the first device was put into operation, with a total of nine chargers that will allow an empty vehicle battery to be replaced by a charged one.

This method aims to eliminate the exhausting waiting time at gas stations for electric vehicles of Silence, acquired by Acciona in 2021. loaded another and continue, through one
replacement surgery very fast in just one minute.

Silence batteries are also used by Seat Mó electric scooters, manufactured by Acciona’s subsidiary, and by Acciona’s urban mobility services. The changers are reserved through a
app on the mobile phone. When the charging network is implemented in all Cepsa petrol stations, the user can choose the one that suits him best and arrive within a maximum of 20 minutes so as not to overload the network.

To use the charging stations, Silence offers the option to buy the motorcycle without a battery, what
lower the price by 40%, and rent a monthly subscription. This method also avoids the need for the user to take care of battery maintenance, as the company, as explained by Silence, ensures that they are always “in perfect condition” in their exchangers.

Silence’s CEO, Carlos Sotelo, indicated in the presentation that his company’s medium-term goal is to provide users in Barcelona and Madrid with an exchange
less than ten minutes from home«, and aims to launch the service network “as soon as possible” across the country.
