The Renault Spain Foundation recognizes best practices in sustainable mobility

The tenth edition of these awards aims to recognize the best initiatives in the field of sustainable and accessible mobility

The Renault Group Spain Foundation has held the X edition of the Awards for Best Practice in Sustainable and Accessible Mobility, consolidated awards with ten editions making them the longest established in the field of sustainable mobility in Spain.

Cabify, the Provincial Council of Cáceres and Special Mobility Solutions are the winners in the three categories of this edition together with Advanced Urban Services, which
a second prize in the SME category, startup and entrepreneur in the field of Sustainable and Accessible Mobility. Sandra Carrasco Plaza of Alfonso X el Sabio University is the winner of the V edition of the Awards for the Best Final Degree Project.

These awards are intended to recognize the best initiatives in sustainable and accessible mobility,
raising awareness in business and society in general about the crucial importance of sustainability and accessibility for the future of our society. This is an objective in line with the mission of the Renault Group Spain Foundation, which promotes actions that promote social progress and conveys the company’s commitment to integration, the environment and safety. The Sustainable and Accessible Mobility Best Practice Awards have been held continuously since 2013, making them the longest-running Sustainable Mobility Awards in Spain, with over 500 applications across the ten editions.

In the category Best Private Initiative of a Large Company in the field of Sustainable and Accessible Mobility, Cabify received the award for the project “Cabify4all”. Javier Dorado Soto, Director of Public Affairs, accepted the award presented by
Jose Vicente de los MozosIndustrial Director Renault Group and President-General Director of Renault Spain.

The
Cabify’s sustainable business strategy it is structured from a holistic perspective to positively impact the planet, people and prosperity. In this sense, within the framework of this strategy, the Spanish multimobility platform is making progress towards meeting the targets related to the reduction of emissions and the decarbonisation of 100% of the fleet, both in Spain and in Latin America by 2025 respectively and 2030. In addition, Cabify is committed to the constant development of accessibility and the application has been 100% accessible to the blind since 2019. More than 166,000 users benefit from accessibility features in Cabify.

In the category Best public initiative for sustainable and accessible mobility, the Provincial Council of Cáceres has received the award for the project entitled «Provincial plan for the promotion of the electric vehicle of the Provincial Council of Cáceres/Plans for sustainable mobility in Plasencia and its surroundings and in the network of sustainable municipalities of Cáceres».
Alfonso Beltran MunozVice President of the Provincial Council of Cáceres has received the award presented by Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

The Provincial Council of Cáceres, together with the Junta de Extremadura, through the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, has prepared the Regional Strategy for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles in Extremadura Horizon 2018-2030, which will promote the procurement of electric vehicles that are part of the fleet from public authorities, private companies and private use will also promote the installation of adequate infrastructure for the electric charging of these vehicles, with public access and for connected charging.

The
Provincial Council of Cáceres already has a sustainable urban mobility plan for the functional area of ​​Plasencia and its surroundings (PE) and the preparation of the sustainable urban mobility plan of the Network of Sustainable Municipalities of Cáceres (RMSC), composed of Cáceres and its 21 neighboring municipalities . The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for the functional area of ​​Plasencia and its surroundings achieves more sustainable mobility through the implementation of several action plans aimed at improving pedestrian mobility, bicycle mobility, public transport, promotion of electric mobility, improvements on urban roads, realignment of parking garages, sensitization of citizens, among others.

In the category Best Private Initiative SME/Startup/Entrepreneur in the field of Sustainable and Accessible Mobility,
Special mobility solutions has received the prize for his project called “Park4Dis”, awarded € 5,000. Carlo Castellano, General Manager of Special Mobility Solutions, has accepted the award presented by Josep María Recasens, Director of Strategy and Business Development of the Renault Group.

Special Mobility Solutions SL is a technology company that develops and promotes solutions to improve the inclusiveness and autonomy of people with disabilities, both in the urban city and in tourist destinations or supermarkets. The aim is to promote a major paradigm shift from Smart City to Smart Human City, putting the person at the center of the project and not the city.

The first project developed was Park4Dis, a project promoted by one of the founders to solve a personal problem. Park4Dis is the first and only European platform that promotes the inclusive and interconnected cities of the future and guarantees the inclusion and autonomy of people with reduced mobility who hold the EU parking card.

In addition, the jury has decided to award a second prize to
Advanced Urban Services for its “Novality” project. which develops a wide range of innovative secure parking spaces for bicycles and scooters, responding to new forms of micromobility, managed through a proprietary pre-booking app. It has individual lockers with a charging point, where you can also leave your helmet and other personal belongings in complete privacy, without the need for a padlock or access to the inside of a fence. NOVALITY has several models on the surface and an underground version, unique in the world. Francisco Marqués Aranda has received the recognition granted by Juan Manuel Moreno, President of the Junta de Andalucía.

In the V edition of the Awards for the best graduation project in sustainable and accessible mobility,
Sandra Carrasco Square, a student at Alfonso X el Sabio University, Master’s Degree in Road, Canal and Port Engineering, has become the winner with her project “Málaga Viva: Strategies and criteria for action against air pollution”. Sandra Carrasco Plaza has collected the first prize presented by Juan Manuel Moreno, President of the Junta de Andalucía

Málaga Viva was formulated in response to Law 7/2021 of May 20 on
climate change and energy transition Spain’s commitment to reduce pollutant gas emissions and curb climate change. The project aims to analyze in detail the current situation of the city of Malaga for the subsequent determination of strategic lines and actions to be implemented to achieve a sustainable city from a social, territorial and economic point of view.

This university project receives € 3,000 for the author and € 2,000 for the purchase of teaching and/or research material for the supervising professors’ department.

The Renault Group sites in Seville were the setting chosen by the automobile company for the presentation of the X Awards for best practices in sustainable and accessible mobility, followed by the presentation of the
V edition of the prizes for the best graduation projectboth convened by the Renault Group Spain Foundation in partnership with the Excellence in Sustainability Club.
