SEAT Arona, the most coveted compact SUV

Date:

The SEAT Arona was the leading model in sales in Spain at the end of last year. The most popular versions are exempt from registration tax on the most popular models: 1.0-litre TSI 110 hp petrol engine with manual transmission in Style, X-Perience and FR versions and of course the whole TGI gas range Compressed Natural Gas and Petrol with an ECO -label.

The SEAT Arona is available with five different engines, with power ratings from 90 to 150 hp. As for the petrol engines, the Arona offers the 1.0-litre TSI block with 95 hp and 175 torque, always associated with a five-speed manual transmission. The next level is taken by the same 110 hp 200 Newton meter block, which can be selected with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. Finally, the four-cylinder 1.5-litre TSI engine with cylinder decoupling is also available, generating 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque, always associated with the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. This version really hits the spot when pushed to its limits, and when driven quietly, it spends very little for the performance it offers. Also available in the Arona range is the 1.0-litre TGI engine with 90 hp and 160 Nm of torque, which gives it the DGT ECO label.

Inside, the Arona stands out for its soft-touch dashboard and higher information system with larger 21 cm (8.25 inch) and 23.4 cm (9.2 inch) screens. Ergonomics have also been improved and a new nappa leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel has been integrated, alongside new illuminated vents and mood lighting technology. The wireless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is via the Full Link system. The new information system screens communicate with the driver via speech recognition that is activated with the phrase “Hello, hello”.

The new SEAT Arona comes standard with 100% LED lighting in all finishes, two front USB Type-C ports for charging devices, voice recognition and full connectivity thanks to the Seat Connect system, standard across the range. The latter uses the vehicle’s eSIM card to find out the status and prices of gas stations or parking garages, in addition to other useful information such as real-time traffic conditions, Internet radio to listen to stations from all over the world, as well as access to multimedia content ‘online’.

In addition, various functions can also be performed remotely via the mobile phone application. For example, users can access driving data, geolocation to know where it is parked, the status of the vehicle, activate the lights, indicators or the horn and lock and unlock the doors. It also allows you to set anti-theft alarms and, if the vehicle is given to a family member or friend, set speed or access warnings to a previously restricted area

The new Arona keeps practically the same dimensions as its predecessor (4.15 m long, 1.78 m wide and 1.55 m high), with a long wheelbase of 2.56 mm, which gives it a very safe and stable handling gives with a certain sporty tone. Inside, great habitability is also maintained, as is the total trunk volume of 400 liters, making it one of the best in its class.

The driver assistance systems integrated into the SEAT Arona are another strong point. Highlights include Travel Assistant, Lane Departure Assistant or Side or Blind Spot Assist, which can offer Level 2 semi-autonomous driving at any speed. And with Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High Beam Assist, the Arona is at the forefront of safety. It also has the Park Assist parking assistant, which performs maneuvers automatically and effortlessly.

In addition to the Emergency Brake Assist, which can brake fully whether it detects a vehicle or a pedestrian, the fatigue detector and the adaptive cruise control (it maintains the programmed speed and distance with the vehicle in front), vehicle warning, the Arona integrates some of the most advanced systems that are available. For example, it includes the eCall emergency call system and the travel assistant; the latter, standard on the FR Plus equipment package, allows for semi-autonomous driving over a wide speed range, ensuring that the vehicle maintains its pace regardless of the flow of traffic.

You can also equip traffic sign recognition, automatic parking assistant, rear parking sensor, high beam assistant or rear view camera. In the Arona, the side or blind spot assistant makes it easy to change lanes. The radars at the front and rear monitor the blind spots of the car at a distance of 70 meters, so that the driver knows if there is a vehicle in his immediate vicinity if he wants to change lanes, for example.

The SEAT Arona is offered in Reference XM, Style XM, X-Perience XS and FR SM levels. As an option, the customer can also opt for the new equipment packages XM, XL and XXL.
