Cupra started the year in Spain with one of the cars they know will be a sales success, similar to their SUV coupe Formentor:
the mild-hybrid version of the Leonwhich develops 150 horsepower acts as a gateway to the brand and above all
It has the Eco label to enter the low-emission zones that come into effect this year.
It’s the manufacturer’s first model to carry this eco-label – so far the maximum it could aim for was Zero, with plug-in hybrids – and it’s available in the Sports Tourer’s compact and family models.
This engine was taken over from Seat, where it was available but not widely marketed as customers preferred more affordable versions. That is why it was decided to pass it on to Cupra, with a
price that starts from 33,340 eurosand 29,340 with discounts.
The engine is associated with the excellent seven-speed DSG automatic and while it still has higher fuel consumption than diesels of comparable power, these propulsions are becoming more and more obsolete. Specifically, the combined cycle of the Cupra León 150 CV is 6 liters per 100 km.
Thanks to the small electric drive, the power is 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm and the horsepower peaks from 5,000. Thanks to this data—and at a weight of 1,395 kg—
acceleration from 0 to 100 takes 8.7 seconds.
The standard equipment is complete, with full LED headlights, dynamic indicators or rear diffuser in the same color as the body. Driver assistance systems include automatic braking, lane change assistant or automatic lighting.
In addition, the standard equipment can be expanded with all the options available in its older brother, the 300 hp Cupra León. These are divided into four optional packs: Tech Pack, Pro Pack, Design Pack and Sound & Shine Pack.
In addition, for the family version there is the Sportstourer Pack, which includes options for the 620-litre trunk. As standard, the seats are more comfortable and sportier than in the standard Leon, but you can choose even more high-performance options, with blue or black shells.
In driving modes you can choose the classics from the Seat range – the sportiest option, Cupra, is not available – and they can be configured in many different ways. Special mention is made of the shock absorbers, which have 15 different positions.
