The message from the Guardia Civil when there is ice on the road

Date:

With the advent of low temperatures, it is more common to find ice on the ground
motorway and so the
Civil Guard has issued several notices warning motorists what to do if they encounter solid water.

The officers point out that extreme caution is required after snowfall, at dusk, after the snow has melted and the water remains frozen. It is in these scenarios that
ice is likely to be found in some parts of the road.

When this happens and you step on an icy surface, the Guardia Civil advises you to carefully take your foot off the accelerator and turn the steering wheel very slowly to gain control of the vehicle.

In case of having to stop and count
with an ABS system, you have to stand your ground, taking into account that the braking distance will be much longer than without ice. Without
abswe recommend that you brake carefully so that the wheels do not slip, otherwise you could easily lose control of the vehicle.
