Man with 2 Faces – Florian Teichtmeister wanted to beat up the director

Date:

On Friday it was announced that actor Florian Teichtmeister must answer to court for possessing 58,000 child pornography files. The allegations were made as early as 2021. The Burgtheater was also aware of the circumstances. Fans and colleagues are shocked. The former star liked to present himself as a clean man and even a supporter of the #MeToo movement. The “crown” took a closer look at the two faces of the man.

Hard to imagine: Florian Teichtmeister from Vienna is said to have owned 58,000 media files containing child pornography. The former star must appear in court on February 8 for possession of child pornography. The Viennese, known for countless appearances in film and television, has confessed – but it wasn’t always that way! Because in 2021 the rumors were already doing the rounds.

Investigation of a beating and porn affair
Even then, the “Krone” reported that an award-winning actor was under investigation for assault, drug abuse and possession of child pornography. The Burgtheater, in which the actor was part of the ensemble, was also aware of the allegations. Teichtmeister was immediately confronted by management about the allegations – he had credibly denied all of them. De Wener told about an act of revenge by his ex-partner.

But how was it possible to dispense with investigations so quickly? Teichtmeister was not only known for his performances such as that of Peter Palfinger in “Die Toten von Salzburg”, he also played the role of the moralizer superbly. The Viennese shows this in particular in an interview with the ‘Standaard’ published in 2018, which also discussed the flourishing #MeToo debate at the time.

Teichtmeister exposes double standards
He spoke confidently to the newspaper about his personal experiences of power and abuse behind the scenes: “I can tell a story in the theater where I believe a director misbehaved verbally, threatening my physical violence against him. He then let the director calling, who in turn stood behind the actors, and then it was quiet again. In this chain, a few people have it right: from the moment someone stood up to the moment someone said I support people. Despite all problems inherent in the system, this company is not free of people who do things right and are courageous I’m not saying the other doesn’t exist In the course of the whole debate sometimes I just want to shout out loud: remember, every now and then someone gets something right.”

For observers, five years after the interview, the Teichtmeister case shows a certain double standard in the Viennese theater industry. Teichtmeister’s colleagues are also remarkably calm and still had an opinion in the #MeToo debate. However, it has been quiet for a long time since Friday.

‘Corsage’ director Kreutzer ‘sad and angry’
However, the one who has spoken out about the cause is “Corsage” director Marie Kreutzer. After the charges against Teichtmeister, she appeared “sad and angry” on Instagram. For her, a “feminist film that more than 300 people from all over Europe have worked on for years has been polluted and damaged by the horrific actions of one person”.

According to Kreutzer, after the first rumors appeared after the end of the shooting, Teichtmeister assured that the rumors about him were false. The film crew only learned of his serious actions through the media on Friday.
