Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has called for one meeting this Wednesday from the leaders of the G7by telematic characterto analyze the escalation of the war in the Middle East and between Israel and Iran, government sources confirmed to EFE.
For now the time of the meeting has not yet been determinedwaiting to coordinate the agendas of the heads of state and government, the sources emphasize.
This year, Meloni is interim president of the G7, the group of the world’s most industrialized democracies, which in addition to Italy also includes Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Japan and the United Kingdom.
The Prime Minister has assured that “Italy will remain committed to a diplomatic solutionof the crisis in the Middle East, after Israel invaded Lebanon and was bombed by Iran.
Meloni last night condemned the Iranian attack on Israel and urgently met with his cabinet, members of the secret services and diplomats to assess “necessary measures” in the conflict.
According to what has been announced, Italy will propose to the Security Council to consider strengthening the United Nations Interim Force for Lebanon (UNIFIL) to “guarantee security at the Israel-Lebanon border.”
