Aiways U5, a very practical electric SUV for families

Date:

This model is notable for its impressive rear knee room and the placement of particularly large child seats and baby carriers.

In addition to careful design down to the last detail and state-of-the-art technologies, if there is one characteristic that defines the Airways U5, the brand’s first 100% electric vehicle, it is its impressive spaciousness, not only thanks to its generous body, but also for the intelligent design of its MAS platform. This means that this functional SUV offers space for all your luggage, as well as space
offers unparalleled habitability for both large and small passengers.

Compared to a conventionally powered vehicle, a battery electric car such as the Aiways U5 SUV requires far fewer powertrain components. This provides, among other things, a more generous space thanks to the elimination of the transmission tunnel in the middle of the vehicle. However, these theoretical space advantages can only be exploited if the technical base of the vehicle is designed exclusively for electric propulsion from the very beginning of development.

In addition, all Airways models are designed according to the FRM concept or ‘Family Roomy Mobility’, which, more than a buzzword in terms of development, shows that behind this idea lies an unparalleled solution. With up to 500 millimeters of rear knee room, the Airways U5 outperforms most luxury sedans and combines it with a
luggage space up to 1,555 litres.

For families with small children, in addition to being able to easily fold the stroller or pram and transport it completely in the boot, the U5 also shows its advantages when it comes to child seats. The supports with ISOFIX base and swivel plate can be easily mounted in the rear and always give the child seat enough space to reach the front seat.

Not only do the little ones sit comfortably and safely, but their parents don’t have to sacrifice space in the front row either. The wide-opening doors on the second row also make getting in and out easier.

The Airways U5 also solves other problems for taller occupants. Not only do they have plenty of leg and headroom in the front row, but they can also sit comfortably in the back, with the driver’s seat remaining in their position. The enormous amount of space is also possible thanks to the wide adjustment range of the front seats. For example, the MAS platform with its FRM concept not only meets the smallest requirements, but also the largest.
