Mercedes-Benz reinforces the position of the CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake as trendsetters in the compact segment
With numerous innovations and improved standard equipment, Mercedes-Benz is strengthening the position of the CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake as trendsetters in the compact segment. The newly designed front apron, the revised radiator grille in star design and the new rear diffuser emphasize the sporty character. Added to this are the new graphics of the High Performance LED headlights, standard for the first time, and the LED taillights.
New hyper blue (exclusive to CLA models) and spectral blue paint finishes, as well as three additional wheel designs in sizes up to 19 inches, expand the options for individualisation. The new CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake models are fitted as standard with 17-inch five-spoke light-alloy wheels in vanadium silver or five-twin-spoke design in gloss black with a high-gloss finish.
Mercedes-Benz has significantly improved the standard equipment and further tailored the range to the specific wishes of customers. For example, the basic equipment of the two new CLA models already includes the high-beam assistant, the reversing camera and the USB package, in addition to the leather steering wheel and LED headlights. Starting with vehicles equipped with the Progressive equipment line, customers also receive the Parking Package and Mirror Package, as well as the Easy-Pack tailgate for the CLA Shooting Brake.
Other functional equipment is grouped into packages based on customer behavior. Customers can configure the vehicles as individually as possible in terms of colours, upholstery, upholstery and rims.
Petrol engines are fully electrified and feature four-cylinder engines with a 7- or 8-speed DCT automatic transmission as standard. As a mild hybrid, the engines are equipped with an additional 48-volt on-board power supply that promotes a quick start with 10 kW more power. The new belt-driven starter alternator dramatically improves customer comfort and experience. For example, it allows a quiet engine start with little vibration, as well as the ability to drive at a constant speed with the combustion engine off. During braking and acceleration, the starter alternator recovers and supplies electrical power to the 12-volt on-board network and the 48-volt battery. This can support the combustion engine during acceleration.
The new ECO Score 3.0 motivates drivers to drive more economically in terms of fuel consumption through a differentiated evaluation of the different driving phases.
Another big step is taken by the new CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake models with the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 e Coupé plug-in hybrid powertrains: combined fuel consumption, weighted (preliminary WLTP): 1.1 0.8 l/ 100 km, combined electric consumption, weighted (preliminary WLTP): 16.9-14.9 kWh/100 km, combined CO2 emissions, weighted (preliminary WLTP): 24-18 g/km; Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 e Shooting Brake: combined weighted fuel consumption (preliminary WLTP): 1.1 – 0.8 l/100 km, combined weighted electricity consumption (preliminary WLTP): 17.2 – 15.1 kWh/100 km, combined CO2 emissions, weighted (preliminary WLTP) ): 26-19 g/km).
The improved high-voltage battery offers a higher usable energy content, which translates into a greater electric range. The power of the electric motor has increased by 5 kW and now reaches a drive power of 80 kW. In terms of charging, three options remain available: in addition to the standard 3.7 kW, the battery can now also be charged with alternating current, up to 11 kW instead of the previous 7.4 kW. The new CLA models also still offer the possibility to charge the battery with direct current and up to 22 kW. A DC charge from 10% to 80% takes approximately 25 minutes and provides a versatile charging experience suitable for everyday use.
The highlight of the interior is the independent double screen. It now includes a 7-inch screen and a 10.25-inch screen as standard. Two 10.25-inch widescreen aspect displays are optionally available. They provide a comprehensive high-tech experience and create an exceptionally uncluttered environment. The steering wheel of the current generation is covered with nappa leather as standard. As an alternative, the multifunctional sports steering wheel is available for the first time in Artico artificial leather. New trim elements in a dark carbon look, brown open-pore lime wood or brown Microcut microfibre (AMG Line only) enhance the interior. The AMG Line offers a heated steering wheel for the first time.
Comfort seats are also part of the new quality standard in the CLA Coupé and the CLA Shooting Brake. They are equipped as standard with a combination of artificial leather Artico and fabric with 3D embossing in black. Optionally, they are also available in the modern color sage grey. The Progressive equipment line offers three interior colours: black, macchiato beige and sage grey.
In the AMG Line, the standard seat upholstery in Artico artificial leather/Microcut microfibre is now also available in bay brown. A total of five upholstery colors are offered in the AMG Line: black, bay brown, sage grey, mother-of-pearl titanium grey/black and, for the first time, pepper red/black.
