The latest version of the Alpine A110 is the version that the most sporty drivers look forward to, fully focused on the fun of driving at the limit and for use on ‘track days’, although it is also approved for street use. We tell you ten details that make this model a truly unique and interesting option.

It’s a collector’s car and if you like the idea, don’t be in a hurry as they sold out long ago. Based on the A110 R, Alpine has created a limited edition of Fernando Alonso that, in addition to personalization details, also includes the set-up performed by the Spanish pilot himself. The grace of this car, in addition to its performance, lies in its partnership with the two-time Formula 1 champion and, above all, in the fact that there will be only 32 examples, each personalized with a plate that recalls one of Alonso’s 32 victories in F1 . With the track name and year, also numbered from 1 to 32, in chronological order, buyers will also receive a signed replica of Fernando Alonso’s helmet. The A110R Fernando Alonso
exclusively wears the blue color of the F1 carwith some changes made in collaboration with Alonso himself, such as most of the visible carbon parts, the flag on the rear windows with the driver’s colors and the signature on the bonnet.

The use of carbon fiber has been intensive and gives it all the flavor of Formula 1 that a road car designed for track use can have. The massive application of this material allowed the Alpine engineers to reduce the weight by 34 kg to 1,082 kg, and this is the key to what will later become spectacular dynamics. The average thickness of each piece of carbon is less than 1mm and reaches 0.2mm in some parts.

Specifically,
the hood is made entirely of carbon fiber, with a more aggressive and lighter design, including two air ducts, which not only become more attractive, but also provide a reduction of 2.9 kg. The same applies to the rear window, which serves as a hood, also made of carbon, with two air intake grilles.

The rims impress with their design and because they are also made of carbon fiber. This change is radical, not only because it saves 12.5 kilograms compared to conventional tires, but also because it contributes to localized weight reduction in each of the Alpine turns. The tires have a different size -throat- and design, the front tires are more open for ventilation and the rear tires are more closed to optimize aerodynamics. They are manufactured by specialists from Fúquene, supplier of Airbus Aeronautics, among others.

The seats are made by the racing specialists at Sabelt and are made entirely of
carbon fiber to reduce 5 kg of weight. They are really beautiful and terribly sporty and come standard with a 6-point seat belt to achieve the sportiness and support of a real racing car.

It has an engine and characteristics of an authentic thoroughbred. Its origins lie in the 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine coupled to the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sets this A110 R apart.
Develops 300 horsepower at 6,300 rpm with a full operational torque of 340 Nm at just 2,400 rpm. With these mechanics and its low weight, it is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 285 km/h.

The Racing suspension also stands out. The shock absorbers are of variable hardness by means of a ring that offers up to 20 positions. These are associated with springs that have been recalibrated with a 10% increase in hardness compared to the Alpine S, as well as the anti-roll bars, which are stiffer both front and rear. All in all, the ride height is now 10mm lower than the version it comes from. As if these changes weren’t enough, the A110 R mounts semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires on 18-inch wheels in 215/40 front and 245/40 rear. And that alone translates into a gain of 0.5 seconds per kilometer, according to Alpine technicians.

Alps
offers three modes of use: Normal, Sport and Track. It is an electronic control that modifies various parameters that affect both the accelerator pedal, the instantaneous response of the engine, the variable hardness of the steering, the speed of the gearbox and the stability control. In the track everything is focused on the race against the clock and it’s where we find the purest handling of this Alpine R. In this mode, the stability control allows even sliding before the top is cut off, but also offers total declutching to enjoy the most seasoned .

The aerodynamics in the A110 R are special and, just like in the competition world, work has been done in the wind tunnel on the optimal balance between downforce and reduced air resistance. In total, more than 40 hours of wind tunnel work was carried out by a team of Formula 1 engineers. To optimize high-speed response, the aforementioned fixed gooseneck-type rear wing, with fixed anchorage and no adjustment, has been fitted. in addition to a flat bottom and a diffuser specific to the R version. Rear downforce contributes 29 kg above 200 km/h.

Finally, it comes with a price, and no small one. Because it is a very special and very sporty car, which will be produced according to your wishes,
reaches the figure of 107,000 euros. The first units will be delivered this spring and the equipment includes almost everything from the red brake calipers to the aluminum pedals, the multimedia system with touch screen, navigation system for Android Auto and Apple Carla, semi-slick tires and the spectacular Sabelt seats among many other things.
