It could affect more than 30,000 models of this car in Spain produced between March 19, 2020 and October 24, 2022.
The Organization of Consumers and Users (
OCU) has just warned of a possible
malfunction in the steering system of one of the best-selling cars in our country and in all of Europe. This has been adopted from France by the European Union’s rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products (
RAPEX), who warned that this manufacturing defect could cause serious accidents.
According to the bureau, this outage could affect more than 30,000 models of the
Peugeot 208 in Spain, manufactured between
March 19, 2020 and October 24, 2022.
This is a local error in the
locknuts of the steering linkages, which are not correctly adjusted, causing the
loss of control of the vehicle while driving.
The OCU has communicated that the Peugeot company will contact the owners to resolve the issue, something that is expected to be done free of charge and as soon as possible.
The organization does advise those affected to contact us
Contact Customer Service of the brand to find out “if your vehicle is among those affected, especially if it was bought second-hand”, as the owner may not be found in the brand’s database.
The agency also recalled that given the high cost of a car, “brand quality checks should be strengthened before a vehicle is put up for sale”.
