What are BMW Points and why are you interested if you have a plug-in?

Date:

Driving in electric mode collects points that are later redeemed for prizes such as the vehicle’s energy consumption, for example

The BMW Points initiative is about software
available for all types of smartphones containing the minimum requirements for installation on the device. Plus, with electric driving, if you have a plug-in hybrid (the only vehicles it’s available with) you save points that are later redeemed for prizes such as the car’s energy consumption.

And the operation is very simple. First you need to register in BMW Points via My BMW App, which also contains instructions for correct installation and activation. When activated, the BMW PHEV car will automatically detect when it is within an eDrive zone and/or low emission zone and switch to ELECTRIC driving mode.

In relation to the system
accumulation of points, there are 3 different modes Collect 1 point for every kilometer of electric circulation and 2 points per kilometer if you circulate electric in an eDrive zone; Collect 20 points by charging the vehicle for at least 15 minutes; or collect 500 points by charging the vehicle 20 times a month for a minimum of 15 minutes. This monthly challenge is called the Frequent Charger.

Newly collected points will appear as ‘pending’ and will be available at the beginning of the following month. You can consult and check the activities, points and the current status of the account at any time. With regard to the expiry date, the accumulated points will no longer have any value and will disappear 18 months (or more) after they have been obtained. In addition, the app has customer service that is available Monday through Saturday to answer any related questions.
