The Mazda CX5 SKYACTIV-D 2.2 2WD NEWGROUND is the winner of the 13th edition of the ALD Ecomotion Tour, the efficient driving competition organized by the lease and fleet management company. The vehicle, which took part in the challenge of June 2 and 3 in the general category, has reduced consumption by 37.18% compared to the manufacturer’s data (WLTP).
The winning team, made up of Cesar Ortiz and the journalist Daniel Valdivielso, competed for two days over more than 400 km on a route that runs between Leganés (Madrid), Segovia and Olmedo (Valladolid). The route, which included dual carriageways, conventional single carriageways and urban roads, brought together a total of 20 manufacturers’ brands and 24 vehicles, driven by a brand representative and a motoring journalist.
These vehicles are grouped according to their technical specifications, divided into different categories: thermal, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 100% electric.
In the electric classification, the winner among the SUVs was the Volkswagen ID4, driven by Juan Martínez and the journalist Jaime Hernández, with a reduction of 25.95% from the approved figure (WLTP). For their part, in the 100% electric car category, Leandro Rivas and Jaume Vergé have managed to reduce consumption by 23.91% with a Nissan Leaf
In the plug-in hybrid SUV category, Antonio Chicote and Javier Llorente were the winners in their contested category with a Ford Kuga. For its part, it was in plug-in hybrid cars Juan Antonio Alonso and Juan Miguel Quintana with a Citroën C5X.
And within the thermals, Cesar Ortiz and Daniel Valdivieso won again in the SUV category, with their Mazda CX5 SKYACTIV-D 2.2 2WD NEWGROUND.
Finally in the regularity test the winners were Antonio Chicote and Javier Llorente with their well-tuned Ford Kuga PHEV.
The thirteenth edition of the ALD Ecomotion Tour started on Thursday 2 June at the ALD Carmarket in Leganés, where the vehicles left for Segovia and stopped at the traditional Hotel Cándido. After this lunch break, the participants left for Olmedo (Valladolid) as the final destination of the first day, to spend the night in the municipality of Valladolid and resume the route the following day back to Madrid, where they announced the results during a family meal and the trophies have been awarded to the most efficient drivers of this edition.
The competition lasted two days, divided into two phases. As a novelty in this new edition, the organization has carried out a regularity test in the return section, identifying the distances timed, without taking into account consumption, in order to develop a route established in a certain time as close as possible to was to that of the organization and the smaller the difference, the better the score was achieved.
