With the new Peugeot 308 SW comes one of the most anticipated versions of the C-segment family
After decades of success, Peugeot is once again focusing on the estate in the C-segment, with the addition of the new 308 SW to its range. It is a proposal that makes the most of performance and efficiency, a fluid and aerodynamic design, with lines that provide fresh air.
As in the sedan, the shape of the structure has been optimized to design a steeply pitched roof and increase the space available for shaping the rear without compromising interior space. The wheelbase is 55mm longer than the sedan, contributing to a slimmer line and more space in the rear.
With this model, Peugeot wants to focus on design, emotion and excellence, virtues that frame the new 308 SW. The back has been the subject of a very careful job. It continues with the characteristic shapes of the side of the new 308, deeply sculpted, creating a pronounced incidence of light that gives the feeling that the car is lower to the ground. It includes the ultra-thin full LED lights of the sedan version, but without the black strip connecting them. Priority has been given to aerodynamics and optimization of airflows.
At the front, the new 308 SW features the new Peugeot logo on a grille designed to bring it to the fore. Its presence is enhanced by the grille pattern that gradually converges towards it. The headlights use LED technology of the first level of equipment. Chiseled and refined, they contribute to the dynamism and identity of the new Peugeot 308 SW. They are extended by the front bumper with canine daytime running lights. This light signature fits perfectly into Peugeot’s current design language, recognizable both during the day and at night.
The new Peugeot 308 SW has been designed to cater to the customer base of C-segment family cars in Europe, which are younger and more dynamic than sedans. It is represented by active couples, with or without children, who use their cars intensively (they are the ones with the most mileage in the segment). They make high demands and make high demands: they care about design, they seek driving pleasure and they value technology, all without compromising on load volume and space. It is a category with a very stable weight in the market (5% of the B-segment on the Old Continent since 2010).
In this context, the new Peugeot 308 SW is able to meet all needs and all customer groups and is ready to win over new users. The new 308 SW is at the top of the range with a concept based on design, efficiency, technology and modularity.
Technology is another strong point of the new Peugeot 308 SW. It includes an evolution of the Peugeot i-Cockpit driving position which, together with a new compact steering wheel, includes a 10″ (25.4 cm) screen integrated into the dashboard, which is complemented by virtual i-toggles. An innovative 10″ digital instrument panel is displayed to the driver from the Active Pack trim, which takes over a three-dimensional display from the GT version. The two screens are fully customizable.
Connectivity takes a huge step forward with the new Peugeot i-Connect system. Thanks to the wireless Mirroring function, you can communicate with two phones at the same time via Bluetooth. The experience is completed with the Peugeoti-Connect Advanced connected navigator and the ‘OK Peugeot’ voice recognition control, which allows easy access to the infotainment functions.
As expected from a vehicle in this category, the new model offers plenty of interior space. Passengers feel at ease, with a length of 4.64 m and a wheelbase of 2.73 m. In addition, the passenger compartment is full of storage spaces focused on comfort and ease of use. The large center console offers space for everyday items for the driver and front passenger.
With a maximum luggage space of 608 liters and up to 1,634 liters with the rear seat backs fully folded, it becomes a perfect vehicle for everyday life, whether for recreational or professional use. This capacity is also multiplied thanks to the excellent modularity. Thanks to the second row of seats, with a backrest that can be divided into 3 parts (40/20/40) and equipped with controls for folding from the boot, the interior can be organized and adapted to all conditions.
In addition to 110 CV and 130 CV PureTech petrol engines and 130 CV BlueHDi diesel, the range of the new 308 SW integrates two plug-in hybrid alternatives that benefit from the DGT ‘Zero’ label and crown the range by offering, respectively, a power of 180 hp and 225 hp.
